1/32 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Plastic Model Kit (AANH1200)

Interesting facts about your Cadillac Eldorado include its introduction as a special hand-built show car at the GM Motorama in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1952, marking the Golden Anniversary of the Cadillac Automobile Company, which was formed in 1902. The Eldorado name was derived from El Dorado, the famed Spanish lost city of gold. This car featured many advanced design characteristics that would later be incorporated into Cadillac production cars and those of other manufacturers. Notable features included a panoramic windshield and jet-like exhaust stacks integrated into the rear bumper. In the following year, a few of these cars were produced on special order, incorporating design elements of the original Eldorado. By 1954, as demand grew, the Eldorado's distinguishing features were primarily trim pieces, enabling GM to reduce prices and consequently see a substantial rise in sales. The styling of the Eldorado can be characterized by its functionally modern lines, akin to the latest jet and rocket aircraft of that era. With an overall length of 222.2 inches, a wheelbase of 129 inches, a width of 80 inches, and a height of 60.1 inches, the Cadillac Eldorado set a new styling trend in automobile design. In 1956, a two-door hardtop coupe version called the Seville was released, while the convertible was named the Biarritz. The overhead valve engine was engineered to deliver maximum power and performance while achieving high fuel economy. Under the hood, 2 air cleaners were mounted in a flying V configuration on 24 barrel carburetors to enhance engine performance. Cadillac has earned a reputation as the "Standard of the World" due to its unwavering excellence in design and product over the past half century.
