1/16 Jungle Jim Vega Funny Car Plastic Model Kit (AANH1486)

Jim Liberman's "Jungle Jim" Vega Funny Car is synonymous with Drag Racing, embodying the essence of one of the sport's true superstars. Jungle Jim captivated fans everywhere he raced, understanding that their happiness kept him at the forefront of the sport. The powerful 500 cubic inch 'Hemi Elephant' motor in Jungle Jim's Vega delivered a spectacular display of noise and flames, becoming a signature of the experience. This immense Nitro-burning engine, paired with Liberman's exceptional driving skills, allowed the Vega to perform remarkably smokey burnouts and achieve record elapsed times on the 1320 (1/4 mile drag strip). Jungle began his racing journey in the San Jose, California area during the early 1960s, initially competing in the gas coupe class. He later teamed with Lew Arrington to create the renowned line of 'Brutus' funny cars, starting with an altered wheelbase Pontiac GTO that immediately set records. After a successful run with various drag cars, the partnership split, with Lew Arrington continuing the 'Brutus' legacy and Russell James Lieberman emerging as Jungle Jim. His inaugural funny car was a Chevy Nova-bodied creation powered by a 'Rat' motor, achieving just under 200 miles per hour during its first outings. As the design of funny cars evolved, Jungle's vehicles consistently led trends, particularly the remarkable Hemi powered Vega. Jim Liberman played a pivotal role in elevating Drag Racing to its status as a popular spectator sport today, known for his trendsetting abilities, dramatic smokey burnouts, and knack for winning races, establishing the Jungle Jim Vega funny car and Jim himself as highly sought-after icons in drag racing.
