The HO Ortner 5-Bay Rapid Discharge Hopper is a detailed HO-scale freight car model designed to replicate Ortner’s five-bay rapid-discharge hopper in miniature. This fully assembled, ready-to-run model arrives as a five-unit set, with each car carrying a unique road number. It rides on machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for smooth operation on most popular track brands and uses body-mounted McHenry scale double-shelf knuckle couplers for reliable coupling. A weighted chassis helps ensure steady tracking, and the removable load lets you depict both loaded and empty configurations. With a minimum radius of 18 inches, it fits a wide range of HO layouts.

New tooling delivers increased fidelity, including separately applied metal grab irons and end cages (no molded railings), detailed train brake line piping, and an etched stainless-steel brake wheel platform. The hopper door linkage is accurately scaled with a reshaped weight to enhance see-through realism, and the model is accurately painted and printed for prototypical realism across the five uniquely numbered cars.
