HO Ortner 5-Bay Rapid Discharge Hopper is a detailed HO-scale model of a prototype five-bay rapid-discharge hopper, designed to add realistic freight operations to HO layouts. The five-car set features unique road numbers and includes a removable load, and each unit arrives fully assembled and ready to run.

With newly-tooled tooling and a high level of fidelity, this hopper features separately applied metal grab irons and end cages (no molded railings), detailed brake line piping, and an etched stainless-steel brake wheel platform. The body-mounted McHenry scale double-shelf knuckle couplers ensure reliable coupling with other equipment, while machined metal wheels with RP25 contours provide smooth operation on most brands of track. The weight is tuned for stable performance, the finish is carefully painted and printed for prototypical realism, and the design supports HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius. The hopper's scaled door linkage and redesigned weight enhance the see-through effect, delivering a convincing representation of the prototype.
