HO-scale EMD SD40-2 locomotive, road number WAMX 4050, is a fully assembled, ready-to-run model designed for realistic operation on HO layouts. This Dash-2 era locomotive captures the silhouette and rugged performance of the original, delivering dependable pulling power and a prototypical presence that suits both modern and vintage HO railroads.

Available in non-sound DCC-ready and sound-equipped forms, the model features authentic detailing such as flexible rubber MU hoses and trainline hoses, see-through cab windows, fuel tanks with gauges, and scale handrails. It rides on a heavy die-cast frame with a 5-pole motor and all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation, while RP25 wheels ensure compatibility with most HO track. Lighting includes bi-directional LEDs with front and rear headlights, ditch lights, and beacons where applicable. The non-sound version accepts a 21-pin NEM DCC plug for easy DCC installation; the sound version houses a DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami and a single speaker, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC (some functions limited in DC) and full NMRA compatibility in DCC.
