HO EMD SD40-2 Locomotive MP #3153 (ATH-1243)

HO-scale EMD SD40-2 locomotive in Missouri Pacific MP #3153. This fully assembled, ready-to-run model faithfully reproduces a Dash-2 era diesel and is available in a non-sound DCC-ready version (21-pin NEM plug) as well as a sound-equipped variant for authentic engine noises on DCC layouts.

Under the hood, it features all-wheel drive with precision gears for smooth, quiet operation and reliable current pickup, a heavy die-cast frame for traction, and RP25 wheels for compatibility with most HO track. The model is richly detailed with see-through cab windows, wire grab irons, a detailed fuel tank with gauges and breather pipes, separate air tanks, and finely rendered handrails and wipers. LED headlights with bi-directional lighting and scale McHenry knuckle couplers enhance realism. Sound-equipped versions include an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami, a single cube speaker, and NMRA-compatible CVs for full DCC functionality; in DC mode, engine, horn, and bell sounds work but some functions may be limited. The model is designed for HO layouts with prototype-accurate paint schemes and a minimum 18" radius (22" is recommended).
