HO EMD SD40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, BN #8135 (ATH-1250)

HO-scale EMD SD40-2 locomotive with DCC and sound in Burlington Northern livery. Fully assembled and ready to run, it reproduces the 3,000-horsepower SD40-2's rugged profile with a heavy die-cast frame, RP25-wheeled trucks for smooth operation, and fine-scale detailing such as see-through cab windows, photo-etch windshield wipers, and scale handrails. LED front and rear headlights, ditch lights, and beacons (where applicable) add realism, while McHenry knuckle couplers provide authentic coupling to rolling stock.

Power comes from an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami sound, driving engine, horn, and bell sounds through a single speaker, with operation on both DC and DCC layouts. All functions are NMRA-compatible in DCC, and CVs let a modeller tailor acceleration, sound levels, and lighting. Prototype touches include flexible MU hoses, trainline hoses, see-through dynamic brake and radiator fans, detailed fuel tanks and gauges, wire grab irons, and photo-etch wipers. The drive system features a 5-pole motor with flywheels, all-wheel drive, and precise gearing for smooth, quiet operation. Minimum curve radius is 18 inches; 22 inches is recommended for optimal operation.
