HO EMD SD40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound is an HO-scale diesel model crafted to bring the iconic Dash-2 era SD40-2 to life on a model railroad. The sound-equipped version includes an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Econami sound for authentic engine, horn, and bell audio, operable on both DC and DCC layouts, with LED headlights for added realism. Available in liveries such as Soo Line #781, these models are ready to run straight from the box.

Built around a heavy die-cast frame for traction, the SD40-2 features a 5-pole motor with smooth, quiet operation and all-wheel drive, along with RP25-contoured wheels for reliable current pickup and McHenry scale knuckle couplers for authentic coupling. Prototype detailing includes see-through cab windows, fine Celcon handrails, photo-etch windshield wipers, and a detailed fuel tank with gauges and breather pipes, plus separate air tanks. Suitable for HO layouts with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended), the model supports CV-based customization (CV chart included) and arrives fully assembled and ready-to-run for immediate layout use or display.
