This HO-scale EMD SD40-2 locomotive with DCC and Sound, RBMN #3055, is a fully assembled, ready-to-run model that captures the Dash 2 era on a standard HO layout. Built around a heavy die-cast frame with precision gears and all-wheel drive, it delivers smooth, quiet operation and solid pulling power. Realistic features include LED front and rear headlights, ditch lights, and beacons where applicable, as well as see-through cab windows, wire grab irons, and finely detailed fuel tanks and handrails for an authentic, scale-accurate appearance.

Sound-equipped versions come with an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Econami sound, plus a single-cube speaker for clear, powerful audio. The sound system runs in both DC and DCC; engine, horn, and bell sounds work in DC, though some functions may be limited in DC, and all functions are NMRA-compatible in DCC. Many aspects are adjustable via CV changes, with a CV chart included. Prototype detailing runs deep—flexible rubber MU hoses, see-through dynamic brake and radiator fans, photo-etch windshield wipers, and a detailed fuel tank—while RP25 wheels provide reliable tracking. Bi-directional LED lighting, McHenry-scale knuckle couplers, and a minimum 18-inch radius (22 inches recommended) round out the package for realistic operation on common layouts, including MU lashups with lead-unit horn, bell, and lights.
