HO scale EMD SD40-2 locomotive with DCC and sound is a ready-to-run model that captures the power and detail of EMD's Dash 2 era. This HO diesel locomotive is equipped with an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Econami sound, delivering authentic engine, horn, and bell audio on DCC layouts, with engine sounds also available in DC mode (some functions may be limited). Fully assembled and accurately painted in prototype schemes, it brings realistic performance and lighting to any HO layout.

Designed for performance on HO tracks, the SD40-2 features a heavy die-cast frame, all-wheel drive with precise gearing, and a five-pole motor with flywheels for smooth, quiet operation and strong pulling power. Fine-scale details include flexible MU hoses and trainline hoses, see-through cab windows, dynamic brake and radiator fan detail, scale handrails, photo-etch wipers, and a detailed fuel tank. McHenry scale knuckle couplers provide authentic couplings, while bi-directional LED lighting (front and rear, with ditch lights and beacons where applicable) enhances realism. The model supports DCC with SoundTraxx Econami, with CVs for fine-tuning (CV chart included); minimum radius is 18 inches, with 22-inch curves recommended for best performance.
