HO FMC 4700 Covered Hopper UTCX 4425 is a detailed HO-scale model that recreates a 4700-series covered hopper used to transport bulk goods. The model features separately applied brake gear, including brake wheel, housing, chain, lever, air reservoir and triple valve, along with factory-applied roof walk, hatch, end details, ladders and wire grab irons. It rides on 100-ton trucks with 36-inch nickel-silver wheels in RP25 contours and uses body-mounted scale knuckle couplers for realistic handling on today’s layouts. See-through etched end platforms and roof walkways, two outlet grate variations, and a weighted chassis contribute to an authentic, smooth-running piece suited for modern-era scenes and yard operations.

Constructed with an injection-molded body and detailed painting, this model presents an accurate, in-service look. It’s primed for grime weathering thanks to faded base colors designed to be augmented with rust and grime, making it easy to create an authentic weathered appearance. Available in three-car sets with unique road numbers to build a believable rolling stock roster, it requires a minimum HO track radius of 18 inches for reliable operation.
