HO EMD SD38 Locomotive Norfolk Southern #3813 (ATH-1433)

HO-scale Norfolk Southern EMD SD38 locomotive, NS 3813, is a ready-to-run HO model that captures the power and silhouette of EMD’s six-axle SD38/SD39 family for model railroads. The diesel-electric unit delivers about 2,000 horsepower and sits in a highly detailed injection-molded shell with see-through cab windows and fine-scale handrails. It’s offered in two configurations: a non-sound version with a 21-pin NEM DCC plug for easy decoder installation, and a sound-equipped version featuring onboard Econami sound by SoundTraxx with full DC and DCC operation and realistic engine, horn, and bell sounds.

On the layout, the SD38 enjoys a heavy die-cast frame for traction and smooth, quiet running, plus a 5-pole motor with precision flywheels and all-wheel electrical pickup. Realistic lighting includes LED headlights and ditch lights where prototypical, with see-through dynamic brake and radiator fans and separately applied detail parts such as air tanks and grab irons. RP25-contoured wheels and McHenry scale knuckle couplers enhance track compatibility, and the model ships fully assembled and decorated for immediate operation. It’s designed for minimum radii of 18 inches (22 inches recommended) and is compatible with Genesis motor retrofit kits; a grime-ready variant helps recreate a weathered, in-service look for dioramas and layouts.
