HO EMD SD38 Locomotive with DCC & Sound, MR #37 (ATH-1439)

An HO-scale EMD SD38 locomotive with DCC and sound, designed to deliver authentic late-1960s diesel power on an HO layout. This ready-to-run model reproduces the six-axle SD38 family with a 2,000-horsepower EMD 645 engine, housed in a heavy die-cast frame and finished with a finely detailed injection-molded body for a convincing in-service look.

Loaded with features, it includes onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx that operates in both DC and DCC, with full DCC functions available in DCC mode. It features LED headlights, ditch lights, and beacons where applicable, see-through cab windows, and see-through dynamic brake and radiator fans. The model uses a DCC-ready 21-pin NEM plug for adding decoders, rides on RP25-contoured wheels for broad track compatibility, and employs a 5-pole motor with precise gearing for smooth, quiet operation. Fully decorated and ready to run out of the box, it’s primed for grime weathering to resemble an in-service locomotive, and is suitable for HO layouts with minimum radii of 18 inches (22 inches recommended).
