HO EMD SD38 Locomotive with DCC & Sound is a ready-to-run HO-scale model that faithfully recreates General Motors’ EMD SD38 six-axle diesel locomotive from the late 1960s. It’s designed for model railroaders seeking authentic presence and reliable operation on both DC and DCC layouts, featuring LED headlights, see-through cab windows, and detailed bodywork that captures the prototype’s character. The sound-equipped version includes onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx and can run with a decoder on DCC layouts, while non-sound versions come prepared with a DCC-friendly 21-pin NEM plug for installation.

Built for performance, the model boasts a heavy die-cast frame for traction, RP25-wheel contours for smooth operation, and McHenry scale knuckle couplers. It arrives fully assembled and painted with finely applied detailing, including see-through dynamic brake and radiator fans.
