HO-scale EMD SD38 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, GMTX Primed for Grime, is a ready-to-run model that faithfully captures a mid-1960s six-axle diesel before weathering. The Primed for Grime finish provides faded base colors, giving a realistic starting point for adding grime and rust, and the prototype heritage notes reference a former NS unit with ownership markings patched out for an authentic in-service look on yard or mainline scenes.

Built for dependable operation, this SD38 features a heavy die-cast frame, a smooth 5-pole drive, and all-wheel electrical pickup for steady power. Details include LED headlights and ditch lights, see-through cab windows, a detailed fuel tank, and separately applied parts, plus McHenry scale knuckle couplers and RP25 wheels for compatibility with popular track brands. It is DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug; non-sound versions accept a decoder, while sound-equipped variants use Onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx for engine, horn, and bell sounds with full DCC functionality via CVs. The model runs on minimum 18" curves (22" recommended) and captures the 2,000-horsepower character of the SD38 family.
