HO EMD SD39 Locomotive Southern Pacific #5309 (ATH-1451)

HO-scale EMD SD39 Locomotive in Southern Pacific livery, road number 5309. This ready-to-run HO model faithfully reproduces SP’s SD39 diesel with authentic detailing and dependable pulling power for realistic freight operations on an HO layout.

Built for flexible, modern operation, it features a front and rear SP lighting package with Gyralights, a 3600-gallon fuel tank with dual fillers, FARR radiator grilles, and large ballast boxes, along with front and rear EMD plows, dynamic brakes, and rear walkway brakes. The model wears a finely detailed body atop a heavy die-cast frame for traction, with fine-scale handrails, see-through cab windows, and see-through radiator and dynamic brake fans, plus RP25 wheels with McHenry scale knuckle couplers for smooth coupling. It’s DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug, and sound-equipped variants include onboard Econami by SoundTraxx for full DC/DCC operation and MU capability. A grime-ready option provides a weathered, in-service look, while the SD39 prototype delivers about 2,300 horsepower across six axles; a minimum 18" radius is recommended (22" for best results).
