This DCC-equipped model features onboard Econami sound by SoundTraxx, delivering engine rumble, horn, and bell, with LED headlights and beacon lighting where applicable, and is painted and printed for realistic decoration. Under the shell, the SD39 rides on a heavy die-cast frame for traction, a 5-pole motor with machined flywheels and a multi-link drive for smooth, quiet performance, and all-wheel drive with reliable electrical pickup. RP25-contoured wheels fit most track brands, and McHenry scale-knuckle couplers provide prototypical coupling. The model is DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug; sound-equipped versions offer full DCC functionality, excellent slow-speed control, and engine, horn, and bell sounds that work in both DC and DCC modes and can be tuned via CVs. A Primed for grime variant adds faded base colors and weathering-ready surfaces to emulate in-service locomotives.
