57-foot FGE Mechanical Reefer car, FGMR 12829, is a ready-to-run freight model that faithfully recreates mid-century mechanical refrigeration equipment. Based on prototype drawings and field measurements, it features detailed underframe components such as Keystone cushioning, air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder, and fuel tank, plus two exhaust-stack styles to match the era: a straight pipe with a flapper or a T-shaped smokejack. The car rides on body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers and 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with 36-inch machined wheels that run smoothly on Code 55 and 80 rails. It arrives fully assembled, accurately painted, and weighted for reliable operation, with a minimum radius of 9 3/4 inches and a recommended 11 inches to ensure clean curves on the layout.

Some models are equipped with onboard SoundTraxx sound, with audio recorded from an actual reefer unit and the ability to cycle on and off with adjustable volume.
