57-foot FGMR mechanical reefer is a ready-to-run freight car that faithfully captures mid-century mechanical refrigeration service. Based on prototype drawings and field measurements, this model delivers authentic proportions and a prototypical finish for hauling perishables across the railroad network.

Underframe detail includes Keystone cushioning, air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder, and fuel tank, while two exhaust stack styles—straight pipe with a flapper and a T-shaped smokejack—mirror the prototype and era. The car rides on 100-ton roller bearing trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels that run on Code 55 and 80 rail, and it uses body-mounted McHenry operating knuckle couplers for reliable coupling. Fully assembled and ready to run, it features an injection-molded, highly detailed body and a weighted chassis for trouble-free operation. Minimum radius is 9¾ inches, with 11 inches recommended for best clearance. Sound-equipped versions include onboard SoundTraxx sound, recorded from an actual reefer unit and capable of cycling on and off at adjustable volume. A grime-ready variant provides a starting point for adding weathering, with faded base colors to resemble in-service equipment.
