57-foot Mechanical Reefer for Fruit Growers Express (FGMR) is a ready-to-run freight car model that recreates the classic mechanical refrigeration era. Scaled from prototype drawings and field measurements, it captures authentic dimensions, underbody detailing, and prototypical paint and printing for a lifelike presence on any layout.

It features a highly detailed injection-molded body, a weighted chassis for smooth operation, and precise underframe components such as Keystone cushioning, air-brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder, and fuel tank. Authentic exhaust options include straight pipe with a flapper or a T-shaped smokejack, and it uses body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers. The model rolls on 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels that run on Code 55 and 80 rails, and is offered fully assembled and ready to run with accurate coloration and lettering. Minimum radius is 9 3/4 inches with 11 inches recommended for best operation. Sound-equipped versions feature authentic sounds recorded from a real reefer unit, with volume adjustable on the sound board and a low track power draw, while grime-ready variants provide a faded base so you can add weathering to reflect an “In Service” look.
