Introducing the N-scale 57-foot Fruit Growers Express Mechanical Reefer with Sound, a fully assembled, ready-to-run refrigerated freight car built to match postwar mechanical refrigeration. Based on prototype drawings and field measurements, this model captures authentic detail, precise paint, and a weighted chassis that helps it track reliably on layouts.

The underframe features realistic details such as cushioning, air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder, and a fuel tank, while two exhaust-stack styles—straight pipe with a flapper or T-shaped smokejack—provide era-appropriate options. It rides on 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels that roll smoothly on Code 55 and 80 rails, and uses body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers. The model has a minimum turning radius of 9¾ inches, with 11 inches recommended for best performance. Sound-equipped versions include authentic onboard sounds that cycle on and off and offer adjustable volume. A grime-ready variant is available for weathering, and the overall design reflects the historic role of mechanical reefers in moving perishable goods across the country.
