HO ATH GP50 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, BN #3132 (ATH-1525)
HO GP50 Locomotive with DCC and Sound in Burlington Northern livery is a ready-to-run HO-scale model of the EMD GP50, presented in Athearn’s Legendary Liveries line. It’s built for hobbyists who want a detailed, operating-scale representation of a classic road switcher, complete with authentic sound and lighting for engaging sessions.
Inside, a heavy die-cast frame, a precise five-pole motor with flywheels, and all-wheel drive deliver smooth, strong pulling power. Factory-mounted Celcon handrails and separately applied grab irons, along with see-through cab windows, produce a lifelike silhouette. LED headlights, ditch lights, and beacons illuminate the model, while a DCC-ready 21-pin NEM plug makes it easy to add sound. The locomotive arrives fully assembled, painted, and decaled, with McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and RP25 wheels for reliable tracking on HO track. This GP50 carries the Legendary Liveries paint schemes—story-driven, historically themed variants that invite exploration of “what if?†scenarios. Prototype notes: built 1980–1985 with a 16‑cylinder EMD 645F3B engine delivering roughly 3,500–3,600 horsepower, at about 59'2" long. The minimum curve is 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for best clearance on typical HO layouts.
