The HO ACF 2970 Covered Hopper is a finely detailed model that offers an authentic representation of contemporary rail freight cars. With a capacity of 2,970 cubic feet, this model is designed to handle dense bulk commodities like cement and sand, making it an excellent addition to any model railroad setup. Such cars first entered service in the 1950s, with American Car and Foundry introducing the innovative Centerflow design in the following decade.

This model features a photo-etched metal roof walk, detailed outlets, and the option for either round or trough hatches. Additional detailing includes separately applied brake gear components, including a brake wheel, brake cylinder, valve, and air reservoir complete with wire brake plumbing. The car is equipped with body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and factory-applied wire grab irons and stirrup steps for added realism.

Performance is optimized with precision machined metal wheels that conform to RP25 standards, and it is weighted appropriately to ensure excellent operation on the tracks.
