This HO-scale ACF 2970 two-bay covered hopper in BSMX service is a faithful representation of a mid‑century bulk car designed for dense loads such as cement and sand. Built on the Centerflow design, the rounded body provides structural strength with less weight and eases gravity unloading, delivering a 2,970 cubic foot capacity in this prototype. The car numbers reflect the BSMX fleet, giving an authentic on-layout appearance.

Detail features include a photo‑etched roof walk, separately applied brake gear with brake wheel, cylinder, valve and wire plumbing, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. Factory-applied wire grab irons and stirrup steps, plus precision machined RP25 wheel contours on screw‑mounted trucks, deliver a high level of realism and reliable performance. The model is weighted for smooth operation and compatible with layouts that require an 18-inch minimum radius. A Primed for grime version recreates an “In Service” look with faded base colors and serves as a natural starting point for weathering grime and rust to taste.
