HO 50' FMC 5077 DD Offset Box Car CPLT #7728 (ATH-1739)

This HO-scale FMC 50-foot double-door offset box car is a finely detailed model designed to bring mid-1970s freight equipment to life on an HO layout. It features newly tooled bodies with road-specific doors, separately applied grab irons, end ladders and a brake wheel, plus a photo-etched cross-over platform and full underbody brake detail with piping. Weighted for smooth operation, it rolls on 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and uses body-mounted operating scale knuckle couplers, with realistic paint and printing. A minimum radius of 18 inches ensures confident operation on standard hobby curves.

Primed for grime, the model presents the look of in-service equipment with faded base colors and surfaces ready for weathering, making it an ideal starting point for adding grime and rust to match a particular era. The prototype 50-foot FMC cars were common in the mid-1970s, built by FMC with varying door configurations to suit customers, and they remain a familiar and believable element on today’s layouts.
