HO 50' FMC 5077 DD Offset Box Car - TOE #2654 (ATH-1740)

HO-scale 50-foot FMC 5077 Double-Door Offset Box Car, TOE 2654, is a faithful representation of a mid-1970s FMC boxcar used in per diem service. This model features newly tooled bodies with road-specific doors, separately applied grab irons, end ladders and a brake wheel, a photo-etched cross-over platform, and full underbody brake detail and piping. Weighted for stable operation and mounted on 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, it uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and arrives painted and printed for realistic decoration. The minimum operating radius is 18 inches.

Primed for grime modeling, the car captures the look and feel of in-service equipment with base colors faded to match the prototype, making it an ideal starting point for adding grime and rust. In the prototype’s history, the mid-1970s saw a boom in per diem boxcars, with FMC’s 50-foot outside-post, non-terminating-end design laying the groundwork for many cars and door configurations that varied to suit customers, a lineage that remains visible on today’s railroads.
