HO 50' FMC 5077 DD Offset Box Car (ATH-1741)

These HO scale 50-foot FMC offset box cars are designed for HO model railroading and recreate the look of mid-1970s per diem service. They feature newly tooled bodies with road-specific doors, plus a host of detailing including separately applied grab irons, end ladders and brake wheel, a photo-etched cross-over platform, and full underbody brake detail with piping. The cars ride on 33" machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and use body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. They are painted and printed for realistic decoration, weighted for smooth operation, and designed to negotiate an 18" minimum radius.

Ready for weathering, the model offers a convincing in-service appearance with base colors faded to match the prototype and provides a solid starting point for adding grime and rust. Prototype history notes that FMC built 50-foot outside-post boxcars with non-terminating ends in the 1970s, with door configurations varied by customer, and these cars remain a familiar sight on today's railroads.
