An HO-scale model of a 50-foot FMC box car with offset doors, finished in a Primed for Grime scheme to resemble an in-service freight car. This detailed replica is designed for HO layouts, delivering an authentic, weather-ready representation that fits naturally into yards and mainline scenes.

Highlights include newly tooled bodies with road-specific doors, separately applied grab irons, end ladders and brake wheel, a photo-etched cross-over platform, full underbody brake detail and piping, and a weighted chassis for reliable operation. It rides on 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The model is painted and printed for realistic decoration and has a minimum radius of 18 inches for smooth operation on standard HO layouts. The Primed for Grime finish mirrors faded, in-service equipment, offering an ideal starting point for adding grime and rust. Prototype history traces back to the mid-1970s, when FMC produced 50-foot box cars that became the foundation for per diem cars, with varied door configurations to suit customers and a look still seen on today’s railroading.
