N TankTrain Intermediate CGTX Models 79002-79004 (ATH-1775)

An N scale TankTrain Intermediate CGTX tank-car set designed to bring prototypical late-20th-century freight operations to an N scale layout. The three-car ensemble represents two GATX classes, the 282-series and 486-series, with accurate paint and printing, finely detailed walkways, full underbody plumbing and rigging, separate wireform grab irons, etched coupler platforms, and soft vinyl transfer hoses that bend through curves. It ships fully assembled and ready to run, delivering realistic operation right out of the box.

On the track, these cars ride on 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps and use body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers for reliable coupling. The underframe is richly detailed with air-brake reservoirs, control valves, and brake cylinders, while 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours ensure smooth performance on popular brands of track. Transfer plumbing is end-specific to mirror prototype configurations (A-end or B-end), and era-specific detailing reflects the 282-series (1977–present) and 486-series (1982–present). A minimum recommended radius of 9¾ inches, with 11 inches preferred for best curve handling, helps maintain seamless operation through bends and sidings.
