N TankTrain Intermediate GATX Model (ATH-1776)

An N-scale TankTrain Intermediate GATX tank car model designed to bring authentic mid-era freight traffic to N-scale layouts. This model represents two GATX classes—the 282-series and the 486-series—and arrives fully assembled and ready to run, featuring a highly detailed injection-molded body and prototype-accurate paint and lettering. The railcar is equipped with fine walkways, full underbody plumbing and rigging, 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, and separate wireform grab irons with etched metal coupler platforms. Correct walkways, manways, and load/unload plaques vary by series, and transfer plumbing with soft vinyl hoses adds authentic detail as the car negotiates curves. Body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and RP25-contoured 36" metal wheels ensure reliable operation on most track brands.

Designed for serious model railroaders, this N-scale TankTrain model is built to run smoothly on popular N-scale tracks; its minimum curve radius is 9 3/4" (11" recommended). The fully detailed underframe includes air brake reservoir, control valve, and brake cylinder with plumbing and brake rod details, while the 282-series era spans from 1977 to today and the 486-series from 1982 to today, giving broad compatibility with modern-era freight rosters.
