The N TankTrain Intermediate GATX Tank Car Model Set is a detailed, ready-to-run addition for N-scale railroading, faithfully reproducing two GATX classes—the 282-series and 486-series—for an authentic look on modern layouts.

These models feature finely detailed walkways and full underbody plumbing, 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, separate wireform grab irons, etched coupler platforms, end plaques, and prototype-accurate transfer plumbing. Soft vinyl transfer hoses bend realistically as the cars move through curves. They arrive fully assembled, with injection-molded bodies, body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers, and full underframe detail including air brake reservoirs and valves. 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours provide reliable operation on common tracks, with a minimum turning radius of 9-3/4 inches and a recommended radius of 11 inches. The 282-series dates from 1977 to present, while the 486-series covers 1982 to present.
