N TankTrain Intermediate GATX Quaker State Model (ATH-1787)

This N-scale TankTrain Intermediate tank car models the GATX Quaker State service and adds a realistic, prototypical presence to a modern-era freight roster; it’s offered in both a numbered edition and an unnumbered variant.

Fully assembled and ready to run, the model represents two GATX classes—the 282-series and the 486-series—with finely detailed walkways and full underbody plumbing and rigging. It rides on 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps and includes separate wireform grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms, correct walkways, manways, and load/unload plaques per series, plus prototype-specific transfer plumbing for each end. Soft vinyl transfer hoses bend naturally through curves, and the injection-m molded body sits on a fully detailed underframe with air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder and plumbing. A 36-inch machined metal wheelset with RP25 contours ensures smooth operation on most tracks, and the car requires a minimum radius of 9.75 inches with a recommended radius of 11 inches.
