N TankTrain Intermediate GATX Quaker State Tank Cars (2) (ATH-1789)

Two-car N-scale TankTrain set portraying GATX Quaker State tank cars, designed to bring authentic, prototypical tank-car operation to an N-scale layout. This pair covers two GATX classes—the 282-series and the 486-series—and ships fully assembled and ready to run for immediate operation on a model railroad.

Each car features finely detailed walkways and full underbody plumbing, 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, and separate wireform grab irons with etched metal coupler platforms. The model includes correct walkways, manways, and load/unload plaques for each series, along with transfer plumbing and soft vinyl hoses that bend as the cars traverse curves. Body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers ride on a highly detailed injection-molded body, while the underframe carries air brake reservoirs, control valves, and brake cylinders. 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours ensure reliable operation on common N-scale track. The set is suitable for minimum radii of 9 3/4 inches (11 inches recommended) and represents the 282-series era (1977 to present) and the 486-series era (1982 to present).
