HO SD40-2 Locomotive, NS #3259 (ATH-1799)

NS 3259 is an HO-scale Norfolk Southern SD40-2 locomotive that's fully assembled and ready to run, built to bring authentic freight power to HO layouts. Available in both non-sound DCC-ready form and sound-equipped versions, it features a 21-pin NEM DCC plug for easy digital control, LED headlights and ditch lights, and a heavy die-cast frame for solid pulling power. The sound-enabled model adds a DCC decoder and a SoundTraxx Econami speaker for realistic engine, horn, and bell sounds.

NS-specific detailing includes a high short hood, a bell mounted on the long hood, walkways lights, breakaway end handrails, and two antennas, among other prototype cues. The locomotive uses RP25-contoured wheels for smooth operation on popular HO tracks, plus McHenry scale knuckle couplers and reliable electrical pickup. It’s designed for HO layouts with a minimum 18-inch radius (22 inches recommended) and is ready to run with DC or DCC control on compatible layouts.
