HO Scale SD40-2 Locomotive in OWTX 9950 livery. This fully assembled, ready-to-run diesel model faithfully reproduces EMD’s Dash-2 workhorse for HO layouts, delivering authentic silhouette, details, and performance. A heavy die-cast frame supports a smooth 5-pole motor with flywheels for quiet, dependable pulling power, while features like see-through cab windows, scale handrails, photo-etch windshield wipers, and a detailed fuel tank with gauges and breather pipes add prototype realism. Lighting includes LED front and rear headlights and ditch lights, with beacons where applicable to the prototype. Available in both DCC-ready, non-sound form and sound-equipped configurations with onboard decoders and SoundTrax Econami, it runs on DC or DCC layouts, and uses McHenry scale-knuckle couplers with RP25 wheels for reliable coupling and track compatibility.

On the OWTX variant, details reflect the road-name’s character with a mid-production body featuring corrugated grilles, a cab-mounted gyralight, nose-mounted headlight, extended-range dynamic brakes, whip antenna, a 4000-gallon fuel tank, and a Leslie 5-chime horn, plus an 88-inch nose with brakewheel and MU hose trays. Designed for HO-track use, the model runs on RP25-contoured wheels and is intended for a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for smooth operation. DCC-ready versions provide a 21-pin NEM plug for easy decoder installation; sound-equipped models include an onboard DCC decoder and single speaker delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC modes (some functions may be limited in DC). All NMRA functions are supported in DCC mode, and a CV chart is included to tailor performance. The model is painted and décaled to prototype accuracy, offering a compelling, highly detailed addition to any HO roster.
