HO SD40-2 Locomotive RBMN #1983 (ATH-1807)

HO-scale SD40-2 locomotive RBMN 1983 is a fully assembled, ready-to-run diesel model designed to bring a precise, road-name-specific engine to HO layouts. This faithful representation captures the SD40-2’s rugged silhouette and prototype detailing, providing a realistic powerhouse for freight operations on both DC and DCC systems.

RBMN-specific features include a mid-production body with corrugated grilles, dynamic brakes, a Sinclair antenna, a 4000-gallon fuel tank, HTC sideframes, and an 88-inch nose with ratchet, plus a front plow and front/rear ditch lights that activate with DCC. The model rides on a heavy die-cast frame with a 5-pole motor, precision gears, and all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet pulling on standard HO track with RP25 contours. It is available in non-sound, DCC-ready form (21-pin NEM plug) and in sound-equipped variants that include an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Econami sound; in DCC mode, all functions are NMRA-compatible, while DC mode supports engine, horn, and bell sounds with some limitations. Lighting is bi-directional, and the setup supports MU lashups with CVs adjustable via the included CV chart. Minimum curve radius is 18 inches (22 inches recommended for best performance).
