HO 65' Mill Gondola SP #160611 Plastic Model (ATH-1941)

HO-scale 65-foot Mill Gondola is a detailed model that recreates a versatile steel-mill car designed for extra-long loads. Decorated, fully assembled, and ready to run out of the box, it features working drop ends and hinged end panels that fold to accommodate oversized shipments, just like the prototype did in service.

Inside, the model rides on machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and uses body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers for smooth, prototypical operation on a wide range of layouts. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and the car is weighted for stable tracking. It includes separately applied wire grab irons and interior detailing. Based on an early-1940s General American design, the riveted construction and folding end panels reflect the era’s approach to long-load handling, which on real railroads required flat cars at both ends to clear the overhangs. The minimum radius is 18 inches, ensuring compatibility with most hobby layouts.
