This model echoes a design first built by General American in the early 1940s, featuring riveted construction and hinged end panels that let extra-long loads extend beyond the car length.

With working drop ends that fold to accommodate long beams, separately applied wire grab irons, interior detailing, and a weighted body for steady running, this gondola is built for reliable operation. It uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and machined metal wheels with RP25 contours to track smoothly on most HO layouts. Decorated models arrive fully assembled and ready to run, with a highly detailed injection-molded body and a minimum 18-inch radius. For prototype use with such long loads, flat cars at both ends are typically needed to clear the overhang.
