HO 65' Mill Gondola LV #34174 (ATH-1952)

HO 65' Mill Gondola LV #34174 (ATH-1952)

HO-scale 65-foot Mill Gondola is a detailed model designed to simulate long-load shipments common to mid-20th-century steel mills. The prototype was first built by General American in the early 1940s to carry oversized loads, featuring riveted construction and end panels hinged to fold inward so long beams could extend beyond the car length.

Features include working drop ends that fold down with a gentle lift and push, separately applied wire grab irons, interior detailing, and a weighted chassis for stable operation. The model rides on machined metal wheels with RP-25 contours for compatibility with most HO track brands and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers for smooth, prototypical coupling. Decorated models come fully assembled and ready to run, with a highly detailed injection-molded body and a minimum radius of 18 inches. In prototype service, these mill gondolas were paired with flat cars at both ends to clear overhanging loads.
