An HO-scale 65-foot Mill Gondola marked SOU #52339 is a faithful reproduction of a General American-built steel-mill gondola used for extra-long shipments in the 1940s. The model captures the rugged riveted body and foldable end panels with working drop ends, reflecting how long loads could extend beyond the car length and require careful handling on the rails.

The detail-rich model includes separately applied wire grab irons, interior detailing, and a weighted chassis for stable tracking. It rides on machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers for authentic handling. Decorated and fully assembled, it’s ready to run out of the box on HO layouts, with a minimum 18-inch radius. The 65-foot length and drop-end design mirror the prototype’s capability to carry long loads, which in real service sometimes required flatcars at each end for clearance.
