HO RS-3 Locomotive AS #44 (ATH-2154)

HO-scale RS-3 Locomotive AS-44 — a detailed, ready-to-run model of the ALCO RS-3 diesel-electric locomotive from the early 1950s. The prototype delivered about 1,600 horsepower, and this model captures its bold silhouette and era-accurate detailing for realistic operation on HO layouts. DCC-ready with Quick Plug technology using a 21-pin NEM connector, and sound-equipped versions add an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami and a cube speaker for authentic horn, bell, and engine sounds.

Built on a heavy die-cast frame for traction, it features all-wheel drive, a 5-pole motor with flywheels, and precise gearing for smooth, quiet operation. Fine-scale details include metal grab irons, delicate handrails, see-through etched radiator fans and cab windows, and McHenry scale knuckle couplers for authentic coupling. Fully assembled and ready to run, the model uses RP25 wheel contours for compatibility with popular tracks, carries accurate-painted schemes, and requires a minimum 18-inch radius (22 inches recommended) on HO layouts for best performance.
