This HO-scale RS-3 diesel-electric locomotive is a ready-to-run model that faithfully recreates the 1950s ALCO RS-3. The prototype delivered about 1,600 horsepower in a sturdy B-B configuration, and the model captures its distinctive silhouette and presence for realistic operation on HO layouts.

Designed for modern layouts, the RS-3 features DCC-ready Quick Plug technology with a 21-pin NEM connector and LED lighting for reliable use. Some versions include onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Econami sound and a single cube speaker, delivering authentic engine, horn, and bell effects in both DC and DCC modes. It rides on a heavy die-cast frame with all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet pulling, and it showcases fine detailing such as etched radiator fans, metal grab irons, and fine-scale handrails, paired with McHenry knuckle couplers for reliable coupling. Fully assembled and ready to run, it uses RP25 wheels compatible with popular track brands, and the operating radius accommodates 18 inches minimum (22 inches recommended) for smooth curves.
