HO RS-3 Locomotive with DCC and Sound is an HO-scale replica of the ALCO RS-3 diesel locomotive, a 1,600-horsepower B-B locomotive built in the early 1950s. This ready-to-run model includes a DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Econami sound with a cube speaker to reproduce engine noise, horn, and bell, while LED lighting provides durable illumination for both daytime and night-time operation on a model railroad.

Designed for reliable and expressive operation, it is DCC-ready with Quick Plug 21-pin NEM connector and rides on a heavy die-cast frame for traction. It features all-wheel drive with precision gears for smooth, quiet motion, RP25 wheel contours for compatibility with many brands of track, and finely detailed metal grab irons, fine-scale handrails, see-through etched radiator fans and cab windows, plus McHenry operating-scale knuckle couplers. Fully assembled and painted in prototypical schemes, the RS-3 supports both DC and DCC operation (sound units operate on both modes, though some functions may be limited in DC); CV adjustments are supported, and a CV chart is included. Minimum layout radius is 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended, making it well suited for mid-sized layouts.
