HO-scale Athearn BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load in BNSF livery is a detailed model of Bethlehem Steel’s Johnstown American BethGon coal car, built to haul coal in realistic unit-train service. The car features all-aluminum construction and a trough-style bottom that increases carrying capacity and lowers the center of gravity for steadier tracking, with a rotary coupler at one end to let trains pass through rotary unloaders without uncoupling.

Authentic detailing includes separate wireform grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms, a separately applied brake wheel, and a removable coal load, plus multiple road numbers. It rides on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for stable operation, and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The injection-molded body is painted and printed for realism, designed for HO-scale layouts with a minimum turning radius of 18 inches.
