HO ATH Bethgon Coalporter with Coal Load (ATH-2297)

HO scale BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load is an Athearn model that faithfully reproduces Bethlehem Steel’s BethGon coal car for realistic HO freight operations. Built with all-aluminum construction and a bathtub-style bottom, it offers increased carrying capacity while maintaining a lower center of gravity for steadier tracking. One end of the car is fitted with a rotary coupler to allow a train to pass through a rotary unloader without uncoupling, mirroring real-world operation.

Inside, the model features separate wireform grab irons and etched metal coupler platforms, a removable coal load, and multiple road numbers for variety. It rides on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for stable performance, and uses body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers. The highly detailed injection-molded body is painted and printed for realistic decoration, and the design accommodates HO layouts with a minimum 18-inch radius for smooth operation.
