HO scale Athearn BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load is a detailed model of Bethlehem Steel’s BethGon coalporter, designed to haul coal on HO layouts. The car features all‑aluminum construction and a trough‑style bottom, a bathtub‑style design that increases cubic capacity while maintaining a low center of gravity for steadier tracking. It is intended for use in solid unit trains, and one end includes a rotary coupler to pass through a rotary unloader without uncoupling.

Detail is built in: separate wireform grab irons and etched metal coupler platforms, a removable coal load, and multiple road numbers. The model rides on 36‑inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and is weighted for smooth operation. It uses body‑mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers, features a highly detailed injection‑molded body painted and printed for realism, and supports HO layout curves with a minimum radius of 18 inches.
