Introducing the N-scale BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load in BNSF livery, a detailed model freight car from Athearn that faithfully recreates Bethlehem Steel’s BethGon coal car design for modern N-scale layouts. Based on the Bethlehem Steel Johnstown American Corporation BethGon, the car features all-aluminum construction and a tub-style bottom that increases capacity and lowers the center of gravity for steadier tracking in long unit trains. One end is equipped with a rotary coupler to allow a train to pass through a rotary unloader without uncoupling.

Its faithful detailing includes a removable coal load, a separately applied brake wheel, and multiple BNSF road numbers. It rides on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and is compatible with Code 40, 55 and 80 rail. Screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks, a weighted chassis, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers contribute to smooth, prototypical operation. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and finished with realistic paint and lettering, and the model carries a minimum turning radius of 9¾ inches to accommodate a wide range of layouts and long coal-train scenes.
