An N-scale replica of the Athearn BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load, this model faithfully recreates Bethlehem Steel's Johnstown American BethGon design for realistic coal-hauling scenes on N-scale layouts. The car features an all-aluminum body and a distinctive trough-style bottom that increases capacity while maintaining a lower center of gravity for steadier tracking in long coal trains. A rotary coupler on one end mirrors its prototype use with rotary unloaders, letting trains pass through unloaders without uncoupling.

Details include a separately applied brake wheel, a removable coal load, and 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for reliable performance on Code 40, 55 and 80 rails. Screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks provide sturdy operation and the car is weighted for dependable handling. Body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers reproduce prototypical coupling, while the injection-molded body is painted and printed for realistic decoration. Minimum radius is 9 3/4 inches, and the model is available in multiple road numbers to reflect different prototypes.
