N ATH Bethgon Coalporter with Coal Load (NS #50909/50943/50981/51018/51021) (ATH-2311)

An N-scale Athearn BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load is a detailed freight car designed for coal service on N-scale layouts. Reproducing the BethGon design with an all-aluminum, trough-style body, this model increases carrying capacity and lowers the center of gravity for steadier tracking in long unit trains. The removable coal load adds display flexibility, and Norfolk Southern road numbers 50909, 50943, 50981, 51018, and 51021 provide prototypical variety for a realistic roster.

Designed for realistic operation, the car features a separately applied brake wheel, 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks. It runs on Code 40, 55 and 80 rails and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The injection-molded body is painted and printed for authentic decoration, and weight is tuned for optimum performance. A minimum turning radius of 9 3/4 inches ensures compatibility with common layouts.
