The N-scale BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load is a faithful model of Bethlehem Steel’s BethGon coal car, finished in Norfolk Southern livery and equipped with a removable coal load. This replica captures the real car’s all-aluminum construction and trough-style, bathtub-like bottom that increased carrying capacity and helped lower the center of gravity for steadier tracking on the rails.

Designed for realistic operation on model layouts, the car rolls on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and runs on Code 40, 55, and 80 track. It rides on screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks and features separately applied brake wheel and body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers. The removable coal load, weighted body, and detailed injection-molded body are all finished with authentic decoration. A rotary coupler on one end mirrors prototype unloading capabilities, allowing loading through a rotary unloader without uncoupling, with a minimum radius of 9 3/4 inches for smooth layout operation.
